# Pomegranates and Rivets: the Belinda Blinked Role-Playing Game
A Belinda Blinked Table-Top Role-Playing Game based on John Harper's 'Lasers and Feelings' and the song 'Pomegranates and Rivets' by Pomegranates and Rivets.
This is a table-top role-playing game inspired by the world of Rocky Flintstone's *Belinda Blinked* series, as narrated on the *My Dad Wrote a Porno* podcast.
It takes its name from the song *Pomegranates and Rivets* by Pomegranates and Rivets.
The game is based on John Harper's *Lasers & Feelings* system, a one-page RPG that is a tribute to the eponymous song by The Doubleclicks.
Like *L&F*, this is simple, rules-light RPG.
I could not quite get it down to one page because I needed to add a section about safe play, because the content of this game definitely needs it.
Also, I have not had resources to design the layout besides just typesetting it into a pdf.
So the document does not look pretty, and it might be something I improve in the future.
This game is a piece of fan work intended to be a pastiche of the weird and wonderful word of Rocky Flintstone's devising.
## What is a Table-Top Role-Playing Game?
A table-top role-playing game is a game that involves structured and collaborative storytelling based on a set of rules and prompts that guide players in how to tell the shared story.
You would probably have heard of *Dungeons & Dragons*, the most well-known TTRPG in the market.
*D&D* is an action adventure game in a fantasy setting.
There are several other kinds of games out there for different genres of stories as well as styles of gameplay.
This game is based on a very simple, rules-light system that is not so much about exploring dungeons and slaying dragons, but is about more light-hearted, zany shenanigans in absurd or convoluted scenarios.
To play this game, you will need four to six people, of whom one will be the 'Game Master', as sort of referee, narrator, and facilitator of the group.
You will work together to tell the story based on the (fairly simple) rules, and when there are uncertain outcomes you will roll the dice to decide which way the story goes.
Treat each dice roll as a prompt telling you what to do next.
You will need some six-sided dice.

\noindent You work at \textbf{\textsc{the Company}} one of the biggest players in the pots and pans industry.
Your job is to run a huge corporate event that can consolidate your company's position as a world leader in the industry, even if you have to take your clothes off to do it!
\section{Everyone: Boundaries and Safe Words!}
TTRPGs are only fun if everyone is enjoying themselves.
While the weird and wonderful world if \textit{Belinda Blinked} is full of graphic yet anatomically misinformed sexual misadventures, remember that not everybody will be comfortable with that level of detail.
So talk amongst yourself and establish what boundaries you'd like to follow so that nothing gets too uncomfortable for anyone, or touches on topics people want to avoid.
Also, agree on a \textbf{Safe Word}.
If ever there is anything that makes the game un-fun for anyone, whether it is topics that come up, how a scene is described, or inappropriate behaviour, say the Safe Word to call for a break.
Everyone follow this player's lead, talk about the issue, and agree on a solution that ensures everyone enjoys the game.
Never ask them to justify saying the Safe Word or talk them out of it.
\section{Players: Create Characters}
\begin{enumerate}
\item Choose a vibe: \textbf{Buxomish}, \textbf{Cleverish}, \textbf{Coquettish}, \textbf{Danish}, \textbf{Devilish}, \textbf{Richish}, \textbf{Stylish}
\item Choose a job: \textbf{Brand Ambassador}, \textbf{Corporate Executive}, \textbf{Receptionist}, \textbf{Security Guard}, \textbf{Spy}, \textbf{Venue Technician}
\item Choose a \textbf{number} from 2 to 5.
A higher number means your body plunges like magnificent \textbf{pomegranates} (you're better at sexy stuff, seduction, social interaction, and wild passion).
A lower number means your as hard as the \textbf{rivets} that held together the hull of the fateful Titanic (you're better at business, admin, strategy, and action).
\item Give your character a comically stereotypical name.
\item (Optional) Put on a wildly inaccurate accent or voice that sounds nothing like reality.
\end{enumerate}
\textbf{You have}: A briefcase with whatever sexy undergarments, sex toys, and tools for house arrests, and other implements you need for your line of work.
\textbf{Player Goal}: Get your characters involved in the convoluted tangles of big business, corporate leadership, and wild and raunchy sex.
Describe everything as if you are a middle-aged white man who has no idea about human anatomy.
\textbf{Character Goal}: Each of you has something you desperately want to do, but you need the others' help to achieve it.
Choose one: \textbf{Become the International Sales Director}, \textbf{Build your Network}, \textbf{Fuck Everyone}, \textbf{Prove Yourself}, \textbf{Seize the Means of Production}, \textbf{Unravel a Conspiracy}, or create your own; and
Say which of your other colleagues (the player-characters) you need to help you, and ask them why they won't help.
\section{Rolling the Dice}
When you do something risky, roll \textbf{1d6} to find out how it goes.
You can get up to two bonus dice, one for each, if your character's vibe or your professional expertise from your job can directly help you in the situation.
The GM will tell you if these apply.
\textbf{Compare each die result to your number.}
If you are using \textsc{\textbf{Pomegranates}} (sexy or social stuff) you need to roll \textbf{below} your number.
IF you are using \textsc{\textbf{Rivets}} (business or action) you need to roll \textbf{above} your number.
\begin{itemize}
\item[\textbf{0}:] If none of your dice succeed, it goes wrong.
The GM says how things got worse, somehow.
\item[\textbf{1}:] If one die succeeds, you get by but barely.
The GM inflicts a complication, harm, or cost.
\item[\textbf{2}:] If two dice succeed, you do it well.
Good job! This will look good in an annual performance review.
\item[\textbf{3}:] If three dice succeed, you get a critical success!
The GM tells you some extra effect you get.
\item[\textbf{!!}:] If you roll your number exactly, you are \textbf{Well and Truly Fucked} (but in a good way!):
You succeed, and you also get a special insight into what's going on.
Say what your character discovers to be the big twist in the story or the bigger picture that connects all these pieces together.
Some example twists: \textit{This is somehow part of an FBI operation going back several years}, \textit{A rival company has sent spies to steal your proprietary technology}, \textit{One of the antagonists is related to another character}, \textit{Everything goes back to the Duchess}, etc.
\end{itemize}
\textbf{Helping}: If you want to help someone else who's rolling, you can use your vibe or professional skills to contribute to their roll if they haven't got the relevant bonus for this already.
Say how.
If they succeed, they get the benefits of the success.
If they fail, \textit{you both} face the music.

\section{GM: Run the Game}
Play to find out how they overcome the threat.
Introduce the threat by showing evidence of its recent actions, and how it has negatively affected \textsc{the Company}'s profits.
Before the threat does something to the characters, show signs of this by reflecting how the non-player characters that the player-characters have sex with act strangely.
Then ask them what they do.
``\textit{As they are overcome with pleasure, the raggedish intern screams the name of Gustaf J{/o}rgensen, CEO of J{/o}rgensen a.m.b.a. from the Scandinavia region.
What do you do?}''.
``\textit{The mysteriousish delegate starts to take off their clothes, and reveals a black leather holster underneath with some fierce-looking metal implements.
What do you do?}''.
Only call for a roll when the situation is uncertain.
Don't pre-plan outcomes, go with the flow and see what the players come up with and what the dice decide.
Use failures to push the action forward: raise the stakes, make the threat retaliate, or take the rug out from under the characters' feet.
Always make the action move forward with a roll, for better or worse.
